At dogEvolve we offer classes and workshops a la carte –a variety of short classes for what your dog needs when you need it.  Choose a class by topic; take just one class or combine classes as you need them. Each class is led by one of our Certified Trainers.

Quiet!  Teach your dog to stop barking.

This 1-day workshop will give you the tools you need to address two common types of barking. Demand Barkers: dogs who bark to get things like attention or a toy tossed & Watchdog Barkers: dogs who love people but go crazy barking when someone is at the door or they hear a sound from outside. This class is a must for anyone who hates barking or lives in an apartment or loft.

Cost: $65. Dogs must be friendly to people.

Small Wonders!  Training classes for your little dog.  

Your small dog is a superstar.  Take this 3-week class especially designed for small-breed dogs.  Basic Manners, Obedience and Play-skills Training will be included in this class.  Small dogs are smart, fun and clever, but they can be BIG PROBLEMS…  Don’t let your Small Wonder’s big brain go to waste.  Give your small dog a little something special.  Give them the chance to shine!

Never Too Late!  Obedience for adolescent & adult dogs.

Training is NOT JUST FOR PUPPIES!  If you’ve never taken a class with your dog, sign up NOW!  Any dog can learn new tricks -you can too!  This 3-week class is full of the latest training techniques, tips, and tools for faster, more consistent obedience. Get the basics down for the first time or fine-tune problem areas.  Class topics include:  Getting your dog’s attention, Controlling un-wanted behavior & Teaching basic commands.  Dogs will be taught voice commands & hand-signals.

Cost: $160. Dogs must play well with other dogs off-leash.

COME!  Safety & off-leash skills for your dog.

This 3-week class will build a reliable “Come!” command for your dog. The focus will be on getting your dog to listen to you even when they are distracted by smells, people or dogs. Handlers will learn when and how to reward dogs for checking-in, coming when called and staying in sight. Dogs will learn to ask permission before trotting off and that coming when called is a requirement, not a suggestion.

Cost: $160. Dogs must be friendly to people and dogs when on leash.

Leash Monsters!  Is your dog behaving badly on leash?

Your dog loves to play with other dogs BUT… barks, lunges and growls at dogs when on a leash. Take this 4-week class to learn about barrier-frustration –dogs who bark and fight through fences, windows and when on leash. Topics include why dogs behave this way and the treatment options that will help your dog develop better leash manners.

Cost: $210. Dogs must play well with other dogs off-leash.

HEEL!  Get control of the leash.

Dogs pull on leash because leashes make dogs pull. Dogs are pre-wired with oppositional-reflex; this means that if you hold them back they fight the backward force with equal or more force in the opposite direction (pulling forward). Take this class to learn about the phenomenon and how to outsmart your dog’s natural instinct to pull. This is a dog-friendly class! Choke chains and prong collars will NOT be used. Topics include: dogs that dart from side-to-side; non-stop pulling & sporadic pulling/darting to sniff; stopping and refusing to go; getting caught in the leash & wrapping the leash around poles, people, legs.

Watch Your MOUTH!  Control play-biting & grabbing!

This 1-day workshop will teach you the proper way to stop biting, pulling, grabbing and mouth-wrestling.  This is a great class for adolescent pups that missed out on puppy class, or even pups that just need some extra work on playing nicely and using their mouths appropriately.  Topics include: Tugging on leashes, clothing and toys; jumping & nipping for attention or to request playy; rudely grabbing at food, treats and other items.

Skater Haters!  Get control of your dog.

This 1-day workshop will give your dog a way to handle skateboards, bikes and rollerbladers.  San Francisco is known for its multi-use parks and diverse neighborhoods.  Skateboarders and dogs often share the same streets, park and sidewalk spaces.  Don’t let your dog’s bad behavior ruin a nice walk.  Solutions are simple and work for every dog.

DROP-IT!  Teach your dog to RELEASE items immediately.

This 1-day workshop will help your dog have better TOY & FOOD MANNERS.  Guests, neighbors and other dog owners will be impressed when your dog listens to your command to DROP a ball, LEAVE food & garbage alone, or GIVE back an item.

STAY!  Teach your dog to hold still.

This 1-day workshop will teach you how to train your dog to hold a sit or down until released.   Dogs will also learn how to wait nicely at doors and stairs and not assume that access is being given because a door opens or their person moves.  Handlers will also be coached on working in distracting environments and adjusting techniques for a variety of environments and  situations.

Paws Off!  Stop jumping up, begging and stealing.

Is your dog an over-enthusiastic greeter?  Are you sick of the jumping?  Tired of repeating yourself, “Off!  Off!  Off!”?  Is it impossible to get your dog to listen if there is someone at the park with food? This class is for jumpers, counter-surfers and dogs that beg and steal. Get control and teach your dog that it is NEVER ACCEPTABLE to jump or steal food.  This 1-week class is about getting it right the first-time and how to discipline your dog so that they behave from the start, not after you notice they have made a mess or gotten into trouble.

Boredom Busters  Exercise your dog’s body AND BRAIN!

This 1-day workshop is a MUST for anyone with a dog.  Sometimes exercise isn’t enough. Learn how to relieve boredom, prevent destructive behavior and eliminate excessive barking without taking your dog anywhere. This workshop is about tapping into your dogs wild roots and making them earn their keep.

Mad For My Muzzle!  Teach your dog to love a muzzle.

Just because your dog has to wear a muzzle, doesn’t mean they have to hate it.  Take this class to learn about selecting, fitting and teaching your dog to like wearing a muzzle.  Muzzles are an excellent way to manage your dogs behavior and keep people and other dogs safe.  Problems can arise if muzzles are fitted or used incorrectly.  In this class students will learn how to select, fit and begin desensitizing their dog to a muzzle.  The first class will be a PEOPLE ONLY class.  Classes two & three will be hands-on classes for dogs and people. SAFETY NOTES: A dog should never be muzzled and then permitted to continue fighting, lunging or chasing!!!  Students will be pre-screened by instructors and must agree to adhere to all safety guidelines and precautions.

*Enrollment is limited to 4 students (2 students/instructor).
*Students wishing to audit without their dog will be given a discount.
